Bury Theatre Workshop, the Community Theatre Company, is delighted to be bringing the hilarious comedy Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime to The Quay Theatre Sudbury.  The play is by Constance Cox and based on a short story by Oscar Wilde.

Young Lord Arthur is told by a palm-reader (of questionable veracity) that, during his life, he is to commit a murder. In order to marry his fiancée, Sybil, with a clear conscience he decides he must do this before their wedding day!  Not the brightest of aristocrats, what follows is a hilarious range of failed attempts by Arthur on the lives of his family members, assisted or hindered by the cheerful anarchist Winkelkopf, and all with the guidance of his faithful butler, Baines.

It is a play guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step, full of over the-top characters (with aunts a-plenty) and Wilde-ean one-liners.

The production runs from 7th to 9th May 2026 with evening performances at 7.30pm as well as a 2pm matinee on the Saturday.

Tickets are available from the Quay Box office on 01787 374 745 on online at The Quay Theatre Website
