Bury Theatre Workshop Present An Enemy of the People

By

Bury Theatre Workshop, the Community Theatre Company, will be performing a rehearsed reading of An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen at The United Reformed Church Whiting Street Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 21st March 2026.

An Enemy of the People is a powerful play, as pertinent now as when it was written in the 1880s.

It explores the conflict between power, morality and money. A shocking discovery comes to light in a small spa town, a discovery that threatens the lifeblood of the town and the livelihoods of all who live there.  What happens when one man tries to stand up to tell an uncomfortable truth when that means standing against a biased press, a corrupt authority, and his own brother who seems to be able to manipulate the residents of the town. What happens when truth and honour are pitched against ambition and corruption?

Find out in the intimate atmosphere of a rehearsed reading as Bury Theatre Workshop actors bring this gripping story to life.
