The Story of Doo-Wop is coming to The Seagull Theatre and will be performed by vocal quartet, The TestostaTones, on Thursday 22nd May.
The production explores the history of the Doo-Wop vocal style, which emerged in the 1950s and played a key role in shaping early rock and roll. Originating from street corners, barbershops, and churches, Doo-Wop groups captivated audiences and quickly transitioned from performing on the streets to dominating the airwaves and recording studios.
The Story of Doo-Wop is uniquely presented as a live radio broadcast, hosted by disc jockey Chuck Anderson, who takes the audience on a journey through the golden era of Doo-Wop. Featuring performances by The TestostaTones, a group that has sung for The Queen, Olly Murs, and Arnold Schwarzenegger and has been featured on BBC Radio 2, the show brings classic hits to life, including ‘Blue Moon’, ‘Earth Angel’, ‘Runaround Sue’, ‘Teenager in Love’, ‘Why Do Fools Fall in Love’, and ‘In The Still of the Night’, among many more.
Group member Richard Ainslie says, “We are really looking forward to performing at The Seagull Theatre. It’s always a joy to bring this music to life, and we can’t wait to share the experience with the audience in a rare visit to our hometown.”
Tickets for the show are priced at £14 (£11 concessions) and are available from the theatre box office on 01502 589726 or online at www.theseagull.co.uk
