Bury Theatre Workshop Present Mary Rose- The Girl Who Vanished Twice!

Bury Theatre Workshop presents the play “Mary Rose” by J. M Barrie, best known for the classic children’s tale Peter Pan.

This is the fictional story of Mary Rose, a girl who vanishes twice.  As a child, Mary Rose was taken by her father to a remote Scottish island and while briefly out of her father’s sight, Mary Rose vanishes. The entire island is searched exhaustively and twenty-one days later, Mary Rose reappears as mysteriously as she disappeared…but she shows no effects of having been gone for three weeks and has no knowledge of any gap or missing time.

Years later, as a young wife and mother, the adult Mary Rose persuades her husband to take her to the same island and again she vanishes: this time for decades. When she is found again, she is not a single day older and again has no awareness of the passage of time.

This is a haunting and mysterious story for the dark winter evenings.

Mary Rose is at The Guildhall, Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmunds from 27th February – 1st March at 7.30pm with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 1st March – all tickets are £15
