A Midsummer Night’s Dream is arguably Shakespeare’s greatest comedy, and it’s coming to the New Wolsey Theatres main stage from Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 August, in an accessible and anarchic adaptation performed by members of the New Wolsey Theatre Young Company and Senior Youth Theatre.
Tickets are free for anyone aged 22 and under with the aim of introducing more young people to the power of Shakespeare’s language, the thrill of live performance, and the work of the New Wolsey Theatre talented young theatre makers. All other tickets are £10.
It’s Midsummer’s Night and two very different worlds are about to collide. Carefree lovers and a band of amateur actors cross paths with the Fairy King and Queen in an enchanted forest. When Puck, a mischievous fairy, starts casting their prankish spells, the lines between dreams and reality start to blur and everyone’s in for a night of chaos, love, jealousy and… a pair of donkey’s ears!

Tony Casement, Head of Creative Communities for the New Wolsey Theatre, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with such a dedicated, passionate and talented group of young people on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The way that they have tackled Shakespeare’s wonderful but complex language has been inspiring to watch, and together they have created a beautiful and very funny show, which I think audiences are going to love.”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is on from 8th – 10th August with performances at 7pm. To book, visit the New Wolsey Website or call 01473 295900. Recommended for ages 11+.
