Eastern Angles Announce Autumn Tour of Icelandic Play ‘The Deep’.

By

This Autumn Eastern Angles is taking to the roads of East Anglia with a new production of Jón Atli Jónasson’s play, The Deep. Based on a remarkable true story, The Deep tells the epic tale of one man’s survival at sea.

The Deep follows the inner struggle of a young fisherman whose boat is sinking in the icecold waters of the North Sea. As his hopes of survival drift away, this moving one-man show presents his journey through the hopes, fears, and regrets of his unresolved life.

Speaking about the show, Director Jake Smith said: “This is a moving odyssey based on a true story. It connects our regional identity and maritime history with a broad world view and shines a light on the power of live theatre. We witness the day in the life of a fisherman, a day in which the ship he is on sinks and his friends and colleagues drown. A day in which, against all odds our fisherman survives. I am excited to be working across the regions
coastline and featuring members of the community in our production.”

Featuring projection and songs from local community choirs, The Deep presents East Anglian audiences with a chance to connect with a fishing community that spans the globe and to pay tribute to those lost at sea.

The Deep is touring across the East of England from 24th September – 26th October. For all the latest information and booking details, visit Eastern Angles Website or phone the Eastern Angles Box Office on 01473 211498.
