Snow White – The Deben Players – Review

The Deben Players present Snow White at The Seckford Theatre 27th – 30th December

It’s Snow White’s 18th birthday and her wicked stepmother wants to prevent her from becoming Queen. A charming Prince arrives for her birthday party, with Willy his hilariously dry comic horse, but she is whisked away by the hapless henchmen Norris and Boris and its up to Dame Fresco and seven wizards to rescue her.

The ensemble cast are great together and obviously having a fun time on stage with lots of song and dance numbers and comedy. There’s some lovely little added extras such as Doddle, which is an incredibly up to date and clever way to present the magic mirror, and some fun with orders for the magic shop. The show is a little long, though, the first half is an hour and twenty minutes alone, so make sure you’ve comfy before it starts!

A riot of colour and fun awaits you at Snow White by The Deben Players. It really is a festive treat with the most colourful costumes I think I’ve seen this season and wonderful lighting chasing bright colours around the top of a simple but very effective set, which makes perfect use of the depth of the stage.

I saw the show before Christmas and tickets are limited for this post Christmas run so don’t delay if you’re going to book.

Snow White is at The Seckford Theatre, Woodbridge School from the 27th to the 30th December 2023. Tickets bookable at www.debenplayers.net/tickets or in person at Woodbridge Books, 66 Thoroughfare, Woodbridge or call our box office on 0333 666 3366.
