Co-op Juniors present Christmas Spectacular 2023 – Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th December at Snape Maltings
If you want a guaranteed way to feel festive then go and see The Co-Op Juniors Christmas Spectacular at Snape Maltings.
It is the most joyous show ever and you’ll come out humming Christmas songs with a warm glow of festive cheer in your heart.
It’s a special year for the Co-Op juniors as they celebrate their 80th anniversary, and they have really put on a show to mark it, with a supremely talented and dedicated cast of 100 7-21 year olds.
The show is a mixture of song and dance with a few poems by some of the younger members of the cast, and it’s mostly seasonal treats, with a couple of musical theatre sequences too. The West Side Story section in the first half was a particular highlight for me, which included a rousing rendition of America.
Another highlight was the traditional closing of the first half of the show, which involves the whole company in the telling of the Christmas story with shepherds, wise men, Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and choirs of angels – it never fails to make me well up.
I must also give a mention to the 800 costumes in the show, many of which I know the parents of the children help make, and each and every one is gorgeous and beautifully coordinated, which adds to the overall look of the production. After all no Christmas would be complete without a lineup of high kicking reindeer!
If you’ve been feeling a bit bah humbug of late and need ‘a little Christmas’ in your life then go along to this family show to restore your faith in the season and believe once again in the magic of Christmas.
I promise you won’t regret it.
